The Goethe-Institut presents the travelling exhibition Témoin/Witness as first photographic exhibition by participants of the Photographers' Portfolio Meetings between 2008 and 2010.

The exhibition contains a selection of works created by the African participants, photographers and co-curators Calvin Dondo (Zimbabwe), Sabelo Mlangeni (South Africa), Abraham Oghobase (Nigeria) und Michael Tsegaye (Ethiopia), Sammy Baloji (DRC) and Monique Pelser (South Africa).

The presented works give an impression of how this group of emerging photographers performs the role of onlooker and actively survey their immediate environments. Furthermore the presented works, by extension, become historical records and evidence reflecting the constantly shifting history, inherited cultures and social issues that span the African continent.
