Jason Orans is a film producer based in New York. He was nominated for the 2009 Independent Spirit/Piaget Producers Award.

His most recent production is GOODBYE SOLO from writer-director Ramin Bahrani (MAN PUSH CART). GOODBYE SOLO had its world premiere at the 2008 Venice Film Festival where it won the FIPRSCI International Critics Prize. It was released theatrically in 2009 by Roadside Attractions to tremendous acclaim, and will make its broadcast premiere as part of the PBS series Independent Lens in 2010.

Orans' next release is the independent feature DARE starring Emmy Rossum and Alan Cumming, which he produced in partnership with Mary Jane Skalski (THE VISITOR). DARE receivedÊ its world premiere in the Dramatic Competition of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.Ê DARE will be released theatrically in November.

Orans is currently in post production on an as yet untitled Sundance Lab project about former Black Panthers starring Anthony Mackie (THE HURT LOCKER), Kerry Washington (MR. & MRS SMITH) and THE WIRE's Jamie Hector and Wendell Pierce.

Orans co-founded Gigantic Pictures with his producing partner Brian Devine, and their other films include GOODBYE BABY (Slamdance, 2008), YEAR OF THE FISH (Sundance, 2007), FLANNEL PAJAMAS (Sundance, 2006 Dramatic Competition) and SATELLITE (Tribeca, 2005).

Previous films include several literary adaptations for PBS, including Nisha Ganatra's COSMOPOLITAN written by Sabrina Dhawan (MONSOON WEDDING); THE SUITOR directed by Julia Solomonoff (SISTERS) based on a story by Julia Alvarez; THE FIRST SEVEN YEARS based on a story by Bernard Malamud; and THE KEY based on a story by Eudora Welty.

Orans is also an active line producer of documentaries, shorts and music videos as well as the U.S. units of international feature films such as L'AUTRE, and ALEXANDRIA... NEW YORK both Cannes premieres from legendary Egyptian director Youssef Cahine, and HELLO AMERICA (2000, Nadar Galal, Egypt), and LAST LOVE (2007, Meiji Fujita, Japan).
