Le Rescapé is a film by Algerian director Okacha Touita, released on August 27, 1986.

In a working-class immigrant neighborhood doomed to demolition, Jo, Ali's son, nicknamed the Savior of the Algerian War, lives idle and delinquent, committing petty attacks to pay for his medication. One day, while attacking Slim's bar, he is arrested by Ben, a young Arab cop torn between his roots and the imperatives of his mission of maintaining public order. Yielding to the respect and friendship he feels for Ali, Ben agrees to release his son. But alas, far from calming down, Jo sinks even deeper into violence, leading to the inevitable tragedy.
