Traditionally, the Aït boughemess had two types of constructions. Small mountain houses that were used as attics and hiding places if a razzia broke out, and fortresses with long ramparts that surrounded houses with painted walls. Little by little, the inhabitants leave the mountain to settle in the valley, in houses that are more open.
