Bukavu Youth Action Center

BYAC is a non-governmental organization registered under the Justice Ministry of DRC. BYAC aims to reach youth in Bukavu and surrounding areas through various programs, beginning with three main programs that will be launched in April 2012.

The first, Seeds of Hope is a mentorship program for orphaned students in the local schools. These children will be partnered with responsible and trust-worthy mentors and continuously monitored in their academic and social performance.

The second program, Arts for Transformation, will seek to encourage young adults who have artistic talents to improve their skills and to use the arts as a tool to inspire others in the community. They will use expressive arts pieces and performances to promote positive messages like anti-violence, HIV/AIDS awareness, and gender equality.

The third program, Youth for Change, will target high school students through interactive youth-led seminars on topics such as character-building, leadership, and pro-activity.
