A film about Women, Violence and the Law.

In what seems to be a hard and unwinnable battle against sexual violence in South Africa there are a few victories which offer hope. Human rights activist and mother, Nonkosi Khumalo, revisits the stories, places, and where possible, the women, to discover how personal experiences of horrific trauma have changed the way the law against rape is prosecuted. What she finds is that only public outrage and organised protest have the power to force the authorities to provide women with the protection and justice to which they are entitled. It is to be hoped that the dynamism, anger and compassion of Khumalo will spur more South Africans to action rather than despair.

In quella che sembra essere una dura e impossibile battaglia da vincere contro la violenza sessuale in Sud Africa, ci sono un paio di vittorie che offrono speranza. Attivista nei diritti umani e madre, Nonkosi Khumalo, rivisita le storie, i luoghi, e, se possibile, le donne, per scoprirne le esperienze personali di traumi terribili che hanno cambiato il modo in cui viene perseguita la legge contro lo stupro. Quello che scopre è che solo lo sdegno dell'opinione pubblica e le proteste organizzate hanno il potere di costringere le autorità a fornire alle donne la protezione e la giustizia a cui hanno diritto. E' da sperare che la rabbia, il dinamismo e la compassione di Khumalo, stimolerà i Sud Africani più all'azione piuttosto che alla disperazione.
