Mauritania. Here, the desert meets the ocean. The sea, huge protein reservoir where the entire world comes fishing, represents an extensive wealth. Off coastal Mauritania, all fishing techniques are used, from the older ones maintained by the Imraguen people to the latest ones, used mainly by foreign modern fisheries. But this ressource is not inexhaustible. One must see to it that the ocean should not turn to a liquid desert. It is the mission of scientific research to reckon, direct and thus help to manage the sea ressources in a better way.
